USGS Map Catalog and GPS Educational Resources

It's a Spatial Day!

(1) Educational Map Catalog

One comment that I've heard over the course of the past decade from people
at our USGS information exhibits, via email, and via telephone conversation
is "Why doesn't the USGS have a catalog of its great maps?" To meet this
need, I'm pleased to announce our new Map Catalog. This catalog represents
over a year's work (off and on) in the making, and I thank the 2 others at
the USGS who helped me with it. The catalog is presented in 12 categories
to help direct you to the type of product you want (e.g. international and
world, culture and history, geology, earthquakes volcanoes and landslides,
environmental, planetary, etc.). The URL is
http://rockyweb.cr.usgs.gov/outreach/mapcatalog.

Browse through hundreds of USGS maps and posters selected as most useful
for teachers and students. Each map and poster has a large viewable image
with a description, and ideas of how to use the map in the curriculum.
This initial sampling of products will continue to have more products added
as they are available.

This site is a supplement to the USGS Store, a full online catalog of
products that will be available in January 2004. This Map Store will be
much more comprehensive than the above Map Catalog. A link will be
provided for the convenience of placing orders through the USGS Store
online

(2) GPS In Education

I have created a GPS educational resources link on the left side of:

http://rockyweb.cr.usgs.gov/outreach/

The full URL is:

http://rockyweb.cr.usgs.gov/outreach/gps.html

I hope that you will find these resources useful.
